Europe 2012

Back from traveling through London, Paris, Munich, Salzburg, Venice, Florence, and Rome. Took many photos with my Canon 7D and my iPhone. Surprisingly, I am very satisfied with all my instagram shots and am very lazy to do some post-processing on my SLR shots.

I do know that there are many people against the instagram app because of (insert reason about the art of photography dying and etc.) but hear me out for a second. You’re given a square crop to take your photo, you have a prime lens since you’re restricted from zooming, and you have a limited set of filters for processing your photo. this means you have to think before you shoot, my eyes see landscape or portrait, a square crop takes that option away making you think of how to make the picture still work. there are many times where i looked stupid walking with my phone in my face trying to get the correct distance, my legs were the zoom function. and finally, all the filters eventually look boring, i always had to find a way to keep enjoying the filters. in the end, i felt like i was shooting with a 35mm… kind of (don’t stone me).

I didn’t expect to write a post about this, i hope it makes sense. oh and the option of uploading a previously shot photo kills the idea of instagram, especially when i see screen captures of conversations, fancy picture grids(the photos are small enough already, doesn’t help that you try to fit in 4-5 pictures together), and uncropped imported photos (thick black borders on the top and bottom are a give away).

anyway, enjoy some of my favorite photos i took.
